Entry 2359. A Spitfire crash landed 700 yds from Bn HQ at 0805 hrs. The pilot, Lt D.R. CROO of a Fighting French Wing was unhurt and joined HQ Offrs at breakfast. He was sent back to his station later in the morning, but not before he had had a look at R. MAAS from B Coy's OP and promised to come and dive-bomb the unpleasant en occupied "White Horse" on the far bank. Intermittent shelling and mortaring from en. Otherwise a quiet day. B Coy patrols assisted 4 NORTHAMPTONS 2300 hrs. After an abortive attempt by latter to land patrol on far bank one of their assault boats drifted downstream. B Coy patrol found no trace. Weather fine, mild.
