Entry 0345 - 0600: Spasmodic mortaring of MELBA area. No casualities. 0830: Sitrep to Bde 1200: Bn. Op. Order issued for B Coy to relieve A Coy at MELBA night 12/13 1655: Brig. Telephoned to say that Bn. Right boundary on river was now 865976. In view of this the C.O. ordered B Coy to hold MELBA area alone, with pl D Coy holding PUDDING & under command 1930: Sitrep to Bde. During day no reaction by enemy to unoccupation of MELBA & PUDDING except mortaring noted above [although a Counter attack on 1 Lon Scots at HAYBAG was broken up by Arty D.F. at 0815]. An Int. O.P. in MELBA was able to make detailed observation of enemy activity. Enemy movement was quite open and effectively engaged by arty.
