No.8 and Amendment received __________________________________________________ Sheet 78: Appendix J20: Serial 74: Date 18 Nov: Time 1200: Unit US: Informant C: States CALABRITTO is deserted by everybody and GERMAN defence line runs NORTH and WEST 200 yds from CALABRITTO. COCURUZZO has been evacuated by civilians and GERMANS are blowing up the village LA VALLE is extensively mined and booby trapped and defended by MG posts, mines every square yd. MORTOLA area all armd vehs have gone but there are still many well camouflaged vehs, some of which are in caves. ANDREA area has many GERMANS and at least one gun. GERMANS live in deep shelters and caves. There is a gun in area 9209 which is thought to fire on to CLEMENTE area. Gun is in cave with only muzzle outside Serial 75: Date 18 Nov: Time 1500: Informant C: Reports 200 box mines wooden on top of ground at 944084 and 12-13 mines on side of rd at 932093. The latter being made of steel 40 cm cube and are let into the rock 3ft and covered over. A steel spike sticks out of the ground 18ins. Not known how these mines work. There are 50-60 of these mines around 912101 placed about 50yds apart Serial 76: Date 18 Nov: Time 1530: Unit LIR: Informant P: Mortar seen to fire from 930038 Informant C: Saw 15 men today at del DUCA, more GERMANS in wood 927039 where there is a gun. GERMANS do not live in LA VALLE and will not allow anybody near it Informant OP: At 1100 hrs 3 men came from wood 932036 walked across ploughed field and went to house in wadi 918038 where much activity has been seen before Serial 77: Date 18 Nov: Time 1715: Unit 1 LS: Two men seen at house NW of CALABRITTO this morning
