Entry Activities Normal OPERATIONAL COMMITTMENTS GUARDS In addition to normal Coy and Bn. H.Q. Guards, guards are supplied as under:- 14 B.P.S.C. EMMERICH - 2 NCO's and 6 Men by night. TRAIN GUARD - 15 NCO's and 75 Men. Commenced 20 Apr 46 and still in operation. ROAD & VEHICLE CHECKS Road & Vehicle checks and curfew patrols have been carried out at frequent intervals by all Coys in the Bn. area. COUNTER BLACK MARKET A Counter Black Market Team has been organised within the Bn., and two rail checks and a road check were carried out in April. A quantity of assorted foodstuffs was confiscated, and a number of people were summoned. OPERATIONS On the night 11/12 April 46, the Bn. carried out a complete check of all buildings in the DINSLAKEN Area M.R. A 3029. F.S. Personnel and Chief of German Civil Police were present at the search. TRAINING A Potential NCO's Cadre assembled on 1 Apr 46, and dispersed 31 Apr 46. A number of promotions were made to individuals with outstanding performances. Coys carried on with normal infantry training during the month. This included weapon training, route marches and organized sports. RECREATION Recreational training has been encouraged throughout the month, and the Bn. Hockey team and Bn. and Coy football teams have taken part in a number of competitions within the Division. The cinema and variety concerts held at the MODERNE CINEMA, DINSLAKEN, have been well attended. EDUCATION Coys have had regular periods in ABCA and BWP during the month. Courses are still available at The Rhine Army College, Gottingen, and some men are taking advantage of these. METOROLOGICAL The weather has been very exceptional for the time of the year. For the major part of the month, it has been very warm, and very little rain has fallen. Winds have been moderate, and there have been no gales.
