| Entry | Curfew Patrol by "C" Coy at Elten. Curfew Patrol by "B" Coy at Walsum. Finding of dead body by Pte Moseley. Received 16 Reinforcements. OPERATIONAL COMMITMENTS. GUARDS. In addition to normal Coy and Bn. H.Q. Guards, guards are supplied as under:- 13 BPSG (Sec) - 2 NCO.'s and 6 Men by night. Frontier Control Post ELTON - 2 NCO's and 6 Men 24 Hrs. 115 Indep Inf Bde DPSD - 2 NCO's and 12 Men by day. - 2 NCO's and 18 men by night. Snap food Patrol - 1 NCO and 4 Men once weekly. Frontier Control Post S'HEERENBERG - 1 NCO and 3 Men by day. Dinslaken Authorised Car Park - 1 Man daily 0900 to 2230 Hrs. ROAD VEHICLE CHECKS AND CURFEW PATROLS. Road & Vehicle Checks and Curfew Patrols have been carried out at frequent intervals by all Coys in the Bn Area. OPERATIONS. On the night of 16/17 Jan 46, the Bn carried out a complete check of all buildings in the LOHBERG Area map ref A 3232. F.S. Personnel and the Chief of Police were present at the search. TRAINING. Companies carried on with normal infantry training during the month. This included Weapon Training, Route Marches and Organised Sports. A Potential N.C.O.'s Cadre assembled on the 7th Jan 46 is still in progress. EDUCATION. Recreational sports have been encouraged throughout the month and Bn. and Coy Football Teams have taken part in a number of competitions within the Division. The Cinema and Variety Concerts have been well attended. METEOROLOGICAL. For the greater part of the month, the weather has been very cold with severe frosts during the night. EDUCATION. The new Education Scheme commenced on the 2 Jan 46. English & Mathematics are compulsory subjects for all non-specialists below the rank of L/Sgt, and there are various voluntary subjects. A number of men have completed courses at Bde School and some have spent a month at the Rhine Army College. |
