Entry Commencing at 2300hrs. Night House Check OBSERVATIONS Operational - GUARDS In addition to the normal Coy and Bn H.Q. Guard, guards are supplied as under:- Commitments 115 Indep Inf Bde D.P.S.D. - 1 N.C.O. & 9 men. VOERDE DP Camp Stores - 1 N.C.0. & 6 men Bde Car Park, Dinslaken - 2 men. Court Guard. Twice weekly - 2 men. Foot patrols of 1 N.C.O. & 4 men operate during civilian movement hours to prevent the illegal trafficking in foodstuffs. OPERATIONAL On the night 10/11 Oct, the Bn carried out an area check of all houses in SPELLEN Area, Map ref A2235, Sheet 4305 1/25,000 GSGS NO 4414. The search commenced at 2300 hrs, and finished 0200hrs. The results of the 130 houses searched were as follows:- Persons on house list but not present - 15. Persons without identity papers - 3. Persons not on house list - 3. TRAINING A 4 week potential N.C.O.'s Cadre finished on the 20th Oct. The results were very good, and a number of promotions and appointments have been made to outstanding individuals. Also, some recommendations for W.O.S.B's. A further N.C.O.'s Cadre of the same duration assembled on 29th Oct. 45 EDUCATION Subjects being taken are the same as September. Number of student hours approx 248 hours weekly. RECREATION Recreational training in the way of sports have been encouraged throughout the month. Football, Cross Country, Water Polo etc. teams have been entered in various competitions within the Division. The Cinema, Variety Concerts etc. have been well attended. Also, Additional facilities such as Opera etc. have been attended in Dusseldorf, as far as ticket allocations permitted. METEOROLOGICAL Generally, for the time of the year, the weather has been good. At the beginning of the month, the weather was exceptionally fine with little rain. Towards the end of the month, strong winds and storm rains of gale velocity lasted for approx 3 days. There have been no reports of serious damage.
