EDUCATION AND WELFARE During the month the Army Education scheme was launched. Educational facilities were explained and the necessary forms completed. Welfare, in the form of sport and other forms of recreation was extended. In view of the position of the Battalion organised recreation was difficult. Mobile film units regularly visited the Battalion, and arrangements were also made for recreational trips to nearest ENSA theatre. During this "difficult period", when several men await release, inter company and platoon spirit was encouraged by the arrangement of competitive games, and the organising of debates, "quizs" all of which proved most popular. |
