Entry | Fwd pts of C coy moved up to posns. Throughout the day there was certain amount of enemy activity - this seemed to be the establishment of M.G posts & movement of armoured cars. During the afternoon the fwd pls of C & D coys were subjected to heavy mortar fire this resulted in foll casualties:- 9 killed including 2 Lt. Holme & 5 wounded. Major C. R. Roper of 2 E. Yorks became 2nd I/C. 1130. Mortars came into action & continued (shelling deleted) bombing enemy posns throughout the afternoon. |
