Entry At 1500 hrs 1 Pl 'D' Coy went out with P.B.F. to locate 3 Japs reported in RAMPUR (1 mile West of NYAUNGCHIDAUK). 1 Warrent Officer & 2 Ptes captured, all wounded by P.B.F. Forces. Ambulance collected 3 Japs & brought them to Bn R.A.P. for evacuation through Medical channels on 24 Aug. Four P.O.Ws captured by Bn since surrender terms announced. No other operational tasks carried out except the erection of a P.O.W. cage in Bn area capable of housing 20 P.O.Ws. 98 Bde operation order issued for move of 115 fd Regt R.A. from ZEYAWADI & 2 Coys of Bn from NYAUNCHIDAUK to ZEYAWADI. Administration. Bn internal administration continued. Miscellaneous. Officers discussion held in officers mess at 1730 hrs on Unit Education. The following points were discussed. (1) Segregation of Repat & Demob men from remainder of Bn to be affected or not. Majority voted for segregation but realised that this is not feasable. (2) Amount of Military Training to be done - suggested 3 periods per day. (3) Resources & teachers available to instruct men on jobs they wish to take up after war - It was agreed that this was not possible on a Bn level but offrs could give lectures on fitting a soldier for his task in life as a civilian. Sgt Cross, Cpl Stanton, & Pte Ashley proceeded to Rangoon for release from Army with age group 18. Attached Congratulatory Message received from Lt Gen Sir P. Christisen, Off's C. in C. 12th Army.
