Entry | Operational. It is appreciated that the Bn will not have any Operational commitments now that the war with Japan is over, other than erecting P.O.W. cages & collecting P.O.Ws who have surrendered. Bn spent day in administration & fatigues. Ceremonial guards restored by Bn - Guard Drills & discipline to be greatly intensified. C.O. held 'O' Gp at 1415 hrs, the following points were discussed. (A) Post War & immediate tasks of Bn. Agreed it was practically impossible to do training since men would not respond. (B) Victory over Japan essay as directed by Div Comdr to be written by entire Bn including followers on any subject whatsoever affecting Post War. (C) Maximum advantage to be taken in all Arms shooting. (D) Recreational & Educational training, including canteen & Concert Party. (E) Complete administration overhaul of Coys, finally leading to a complete Admin Inspection by C.O. prior to be Bde Comdrs Admin Inspection on 21 Sept. (F) Repatriative Pl per Coy to be formed from all personnel who complete 3 yrs 4 months by 31st Dec. (G) Committee consisting of Adj, Q.M., Padre, P.R.I. & R.S.M. to lay down programme for celebration of MAIWAND DAY (27 July) now that Bn non operational. Administration. 50 men of 'A' Coy attended E.N.S.A. show at TOUNGOO "To Your Liking". Miscellaneous. (1) Brigadier C.I. Jerrard 98 Bde, visited Bn. (2) August Liquor Ration issued. 3 large & 8 small bottles per man. (3) Bn to be inoculated against cholera owing to outbreak in Toungoo - Pyll area. |
