Entry | Operational. Bn handed over operational role and commitments of THITSEDAUNG to 22 East African Bde & moved in M.T. to TOUNGOO EAST where Bn harboured for night. Bn were first troops to enter the MAWCHI ROAD. On 16 April 1945 & were the last British Bn of 19 Div to be on the MAWCHI ROAD. Bn in second tour of duty spent from 18th June without break until today, in this area, & despite lack of strong enemy opposition was a tired Bn owing to tiring & climatic conditions & extra work bourne by officers & men owing to acute shortage in numbers. |
