Entry | Operations. (1) 'D' Coy patrol to PALACE and COURT found both unoccupied. NUMBER crossable by foot & muleable. Patrol continued to M.S. 27. & found area clear. Going very hard & steep. (2) 'D' Coy standing patrol reported no enemy seen. (3) 'A' Coy patrol to Pt 12.70 found no sentries. (4) 'A' Coy patrol to LOOP found area clear. At 1100 hrs C.O. held O group for moves on 3 Aug. All moves devalued. (1) PALACE and COURT clear of enemy. (2) HUMBER crossable by man and mules. (3) Mules available to move Coys. All above were solved by 1800 hrs & following orders were issued for 3 Aug. (1) 'A' Coy move on Mule basis with Pioneer representatives & F.O.O. R.A. (from TRIANGLE) & 3" Mtr F.O.O. to PALACE: Tasks (A) Occupy PALACE (B) Patrol fwd to TRENT, pt 207939 & (C) East to LOOP where patrol joins 'D' Coy standing patrol. (d) Recce area on PALACE for Bn HQ & HQ Coy to move into that area 4 Aug. (2) 'B' Coy plus 3" Mtr F.O.O. move to COURT on Mule basis. Tasks: (A) Occupy COURT (B) Patrol to SE & SW of COURT. (3) 'D' Coy to send patrols as follows at 0700 hrs 3 Aug. (A) Pl recce patrol to include recce parties of 'A' & 'B' Coys to move to PALACE & COURT leaving elements on both features until 'A' & 'B' Coys move into respective areas. Remainder of Pl patrol to LOOP. (B) Section patrol to LOOP where joined by elements of (A) above. Patrol then recces 27& 28 M.S. returning at 1630 hrs. (C) 1 Sect to occupy DOLPHIN until 1630 hrs. (4) 'C' Coy moves to HEART at 0900 hrs. (5) C.Os Pl moves to NEVIS at 0900 hrs. 62 Bde Op Order No.22 for 4/6 Gurkhas move from THANDAUNG to SIBINGALE to beat up isolated pockets of Japs. Administration. Lt Col Blackie of the Kings African Rifles visited Bn. |
