Location M.S. 16.6 on MAWCHI ROAD., Burma
Entry Operations: Patrols as follows:- (1) 'B' Coy. KYETTAIK ALE (0903) - M.S. 16.2. (2) 'B' Coy. M.S. 17 - NYAUNGBIN SAKAN (0801) - KUNGYAUNG (0602) - KYETTAIK (0903). (3) 'C' Coy. M.S. 17 - TONBO (1093) (72 hrs patrol). (4) 'D' Coy THANDAUNG - TAWBYGYI (1409) (see War Diary 27 June). Patrols 1 - 3 reported 'No enemy seen'. Training: Bn carried out normal training. Lieut Court, Sherwood Foresters, reported to Bn from 32 Inf Try Bde, RANCHI for attachment for a period of one month to forward unit for experience. Attached to 'B' Coy. A training patrol of Bn 'Tactical Course' went out at 1400 hrs for a 2 hr patrol skirting the Bn perimeter. This patrol somehow lost its way and went down to about M.S. 21, three miles South of road, where it slept the night, returning at 0800 hrs 29 June. Administration: (1) Major E.C. PEMBERTON M.C., Major M.V. MILN, Major W.G. THOMPSON and Capt C. SIMMONS left Bn for repatriation to U.K. Last 3 had served continuously with the Bn since April 1942. (2) Visit of G.O.C. in C 12th Army postponed. (3) Capt R. D. ANDERSON took over command 'D' Coy vice Major M.V. MILN (Repatriated). Lieut G. TAYLOR assumed temporary command of 'A' Coy vice MAJOR W.G. THOMPSON (Repatriated). Amenities: May and June beer and spirit arrived. Biggest issue to date in one month, 20 1/2 pint bottles per man.
