Location M.S. 16.6 on MAWCHI ROAD., Burma
Entry Operations: The following patrols returned:- (1) 'C' Coy 72 hr patrol which left 0700 hrs 21 June. Route - CHAUNGHNAKWA (1202) - NYAUNGBIN SAKAN (0801) - KAWBATCHAN (0601) - SEINGON R.H. (1296) - TONBO (1093) - SEINGOW - m.s. 16.6. Locals reported no enemy in area for past two weeks. One Jap body found 1/2 mile South of R.H. (1296), body 3 to 4 days old. (2) 'B' Coy 24 hr patrol which left at 0700 hrs 22 June. Route - PYASAKAN (0404) - KUTHIBIN (0010) - KUNBIN (9912) - YWAGYI (0307) - PYASAKAN (0404). Three Jap skeletons found 1/2 South of PYASAKAN (0404). (3) 'B' Coy 8 hr patrol to CHAUNGHNAKWA (1201) - NYAUNGBIN SAKAN (0801) - KAWBATCHAN (0601) - KUNGYAUNG (0602) - KYETTAIK (9903). No enemy seen. (4) 3 'D' Coy patrols to TAWBYGYI (1409), MAWNWEGYI (22) and KODOKA (2612) reported no enemy seen. A head-man suspected of collaborating with the Japs was caught by 'D' Coy at THANDAUNG, brought in and handed over to D.A.P.M. for onward transmission to Div H.Q. Refugees in THANDAUNG now number 1350. A 'D' Coy patrol located 3 elephants at MAWNWEGYI (22). 'D' Coy investigating on next patrol. 1 Tp 8th Cavalry (under Bn command) moved to Bn area at M.S. 16.6. Administrative: No 2691912 C.S.M. Clark J. ('A' Coy) left Bn to go to U.K. for release from Army service. Age and service group 12. The first member of the Bn to be demobbed. Misellaneous: C.O. paid a visit to Div H.Q. Capt Cole, war artist, arrived to stay 4 or 5 days with the Bn. Reference to Appendices: Appx F.9. 2 R Berks Int Summary dated 23 June.
