Entry Guerillas reported that they killed 3 Japs on 11 June at 7960, they produced badges of rank of 1 Lieut and Superior Pte. 'B' Coy Pl returned from KYETPAUNGGYAUNG 8348, no enemy seen. 1 P.W. taken by 136 Force in KWEBWE taken to Div. Lt - Gen Sir Oliver Leese, Bart, K.C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., C-in-C, A.L.F.S.E.A. visited Bn. Met at Pyu C Bridge by Major R.L. Twidle M.C., and escorted by C.O.s Pl and 1 Tp 8 Cav to NYAUNGCHIDAUK. Visit lasted from 1000 hrs to 1045 hrs. C-in-C shook hands and spoke to all Bn offrs, and Major Birwood, Sqdn Comd 8 Cavalry, Major Rubenstein, 136 Force, Major Thompson and Bty Capt 129 Bty R.A. and spoke to all officers and men of the Bn for 30 minutes. Gist of the Generals talk - achievements from KOHIMA to capture RANGOON and part played by the Bn, future operations, supplies and amenities, repatriation down to 3 yrs 4 mths, and finally congratulations to Bn on their magnificent show. Warrant officers then introduced to the General. The following accompanied the C-in-C Off Div Comdr, A.D.C. to C-in-C, G.S.O. (ii) Div P.D.R. officer. 2 cameramen took pictures of officers being presented to C-in-C and of men of Bn listening to the C-in-Cs address. All officers gathered informally in Bn H.Q. mess in order that new officers might make themselves known. In evening, by great request, the Mobile Cinema showed the film "Cover Girl" starring Rita Hayworth. At 2000 hrs as a result of 136 Force reports of concentrations of Japs at BON and KYAUKCHAUNG R.H. Div H.Q. warned us of a possible airstrike with 4 aircraft on 14 June. 136 Force later reported 1000 Japs in EINSHEMYAUNG 6383. Reference to Appendices: None.
