| Entry | Coy Comdrs training conference held at 0900 hrs (see training letter to Coys Appx G.1.). Points discussed:- Training of reinforcements, sand tables on battle drills, Pl drills to be taken by C.O. T.E.W.T.S. co-operation with tanks to be discussed at a later date. All officers to write a narrative every month on subject specified by Div. June subject:- Any action involved in, sketch map to be included. If not seen action subject will be "The route I took from India to join 19 Div". Coys to render reports on morale, welfare, security (N.B. 25 Reinforcement Camp rumours). Brig C. Goulder D.S.O. M.C. Off Commander 19 Ind Div visited Bn. 'C' Coy Pl patrolled from YEOZIN 9064 - THAYETTAW 9264 - THAUNGDAN 9363. One Jap seen THAUNGDAN 9363 shot at and wounded by 'C' Coy, but managed to escape in thick undergrowth. At 1245 hrs, on Guerilla report of 200 Japs in chaung 834627, 128 Bty R.A. fired 48 rounds on that area. At 1400 hrs 1 Pl 'D' Coy and F.O.O. moved out to base at 12r (836625) and patrol to see effects of shelling. At 1830 hrs C.Os Pl returned - no enemy seen. At 1830 hrs guns shelled area N. of SHANYWA by map on report from Guerillas. At 1930 hrs Pl of 'D' Coy returned and confirmed report of Japs near SHANYWA 832627. Patrols from this Pl saw 8 Jap sentries and heard sounds of digging. Patrol returned fire of Jap sentries and withdrew. Digging also reported and sentries seen at 841633. At 2030 hrs guns fired again slightly N of SHANYWA and at 2130 hrs shelled SHANYWA. Pl of 'D' Coy investigating damage first light 10 June. Other inf - N.T.R. Mobile cinema showed the film "SAN DEMETRIO LONDON" in Bn HQ area. Radio defusion van also in attendance. The first W.O. vacancy for 28 days U.K. leave drawn. C.S.M. HODD F.
