Entry 2 Pls 'C' Coy went to investigate results of shelling yesterday at 15 r (902686) reported area clear. 0930 hrs - Guerilla reports that 500 Japs with 1 Mtr & 3 Brens at BON 7681 plan to go via BONGI C to BONGALE C (74 grid) and cross road near M.S. 161 1/2 (866754). Guerilla ambushes being laid (1) 8174 to KAYAGON 8273 (2) KYAUNGON 8178 to KINMOCHON 8179 (3) YETHO 8372 to SIBIN 8271. 8th Cavalry laying night ambush at 10 r (8678). At 1330 hrs further report of 200 Japs at SHANWYA 8464 confirmed by guerilla. 'D' Coy ordered to base at SHANWYA and investigate. 1 Bty in support . Patrols sent by 'D' Coy to KOGWA and SHANWYA. KOGWA reported all clear, but Arty shelled chaung 830639 at 1750 hrs - shelling effective and 80 rounds fired. Patrol investigated and found blood, equipment, food and signs of hurried evacuation. Owing to darkness patrol called in. Capt R. Anderson and Lieut J.A. Eastwood joined Bn and posted to 'D' Coy. Appreciation - that Japs will cross road tonight in Bn area. Ambushes, 1 Platoon strong accordingly laid at 9 places between M.S. 163 (8678) and M.S. 153 (8761). 0668 Div Commander, Brig C. GOULDER, D.S.O., M.C. visited Bn at 1545 hrs. W.A.S. (B) canteen visited Bn area, toured all areas giving free tea and selling canteen stores. J.R.S. van visited area and sold canteen supplies. First officer went on Indian leave. (Lieut D.
