Entry No enemy seen or contacted during night. At 1100 hrs, on report from guerillas of 25 Japs in area 8245 and moving North, 1 Pl of 'A' Coy was sent out to KYETPAUNGGYAUNG (835480). 2 Tps dismounted 8 Cavalry laid ambush at (8678), contacted no Japs, but stated that fires were lit in villages 8680, 8579, 8480, and maintained throughout night. These fires were also seen by our two ambushes. 'B' Coy returned to ZEYAWA (8849) at 1130 hrs. 'D' Coy returned to NYAUNGCHIDAUK (8757) at 1400 hrs. C.Os. Pl and Snipers, with 1 Bty 115 Fd Regt R.A. in support at M.S. 161 (8674), laid 2 ambushes, one at M.S. 164 1/2 (8782) the other at M.S. 164 (8679) - contacted no Japs but heard L.M.G. and Rifle fire. 'A' Coy Pl to KYETPAUNGGYAUNG (835480) met no Japs, but the villagers dug up 2 fresh graves containing two bodies of Japs who had been killed by guerillas at KYETPAUNGGYAUNG (835480). Confirmed that the 25 Japs reported earlier were part of a force of 100, which moved back into the hills. About 1500 hrs guerillas killed 1 Jap at NAYETWIN (8559). No identification obtained. About 2200 hrs shots were heard from area SHANWYA (9079). 2 elephants loaned by 136 Force reported to Bn H.Q. for clearing an area for Bn Parade Ground. Major A.J.
