Entry 'C' Coy no contact with Japs during previous night. Guerillas reported 5 Japs at 906731, but Japs ran away towards West. 1 Pl 'D' Coy saw torch signalling at 903774, and later found a raft at 905767. Guerillas reported at 0900 that 300 Japs were at 7979 & 50 at SIRGU (8474). They maintained observation on these Japs. It was anticipated that probable intention of this party was to move East and cross SITTANG river during night between 'C' and 'D' Coy areas. 1 Pl 'C' Coy sent to lie up at 896809 for night. 136 Force established 2 ambushes on chaungs West of road 1 mile South of M.S. 161 (8674). At 1600 hrs 'C' Coy were ordered to return on 30 May at 0900 hrs to KYWBWE (8667). 'B' Coy moved at 1430 hrs to SITTANG River (0553) with intention to patrol SITTAUNG (9855) and to move at dawn 30 May to SITTAUNG (9855). ENSA Concert Party went to 'A' Coy at 1600 hrs and gave 2nd performance to 'HQ' and Adm Coys at 2030 hrs at NYAUNCHIDAUK. Lt-Col H. du Pre Finch left for lecture tour in U.K. Major R.L. Twidle M.C. assumed command of Bn. 39 men rejoined from hospital, and 76 new Reinforcements arrived. Reference to Appendices: None.
