Entry | At first light patrols searched the area from a line through Pagoda 1 to br 9799 and so North to the ALEMYAUNG CHAUNG, and 'B' Coy, moving down the main road towards M.S. 3. escorting a sapper party searching for mines and booby traps (of which a number, including 250 lb ariel bombs, were found killed 1 Jap. The area having been cleared, the Bn moved by march route along the main road to bridge 9197, and having concentrated there, moved in M.T. down the road TOUNGOO - RANGOON to NYAUNGCHIDAUK 8757 arriving at approx 1930 hrs. The Bns operational role did not begin until 1800 hrs 11 May so Coys were deployed non-tactically with the exception that 'D' Coy was astride the main track coming into NYAUNGCHIDAUK from the West. The A.T. Pl remained in TOUNGOO. The Bn spent a quiet night. References to Appendices: None. |
