Entry | The Bn, less 'A' Coy was unable to break contact before 1st light as transport was harboured in Taungoo and did not reach the Bn area until 0630 hrs. A deception plan consisting of medium, 25 pdr, and 3" mortar fire on Pagoda 2 from 0615 - 0915 covered the Bn out, the final elements of 'C' Coy leaving their posns at approx 0930 hrs. By 1300 hrs the Bn had concentrated complete between the SITTANG RIVER and the moat with Bn H.Q. at 913977. Prior to their relief by Coy 8 F.F.R. 'A' Coy posn was fairly heavily shelled but there were no casualties. During the afternoon preparations were made to send recce patrols to investigate enemy strength and movement in (1) SHWELE - IN 9301 (2) MAU - DAW 9402 and (3) SEITPUDAUNG 9501, but at the last minute reports from local inhabitants working for the B.J.C. rendered the second and third of these unnecessary, and they were cancelled.
