Entry | Patrols to Pg 6263, along the tracks running East from MAGYI-DK to a distance of 1000 yds, and up the chaung leading to MYINGYAKAN as far as 610643 reported seeing no enemy, but a party of 10 Japs with a Burmese guide were seen observing our posn about 200 yds North-West of the village. They were fired upon, but got away. At approx 1400 hrs a warning was received for the Bn to attack and capture SAMYE TAUNG 6562 the following day. Two officer recce patrols were accordingly sent out about 1530 hrs to discover enemy locations and strength, one to recce the two track juncs in Sq 6461 and then SAMYE TAUNG itself - the other to recce the general area just North of the hill feature and SEIKPU SAKAN 6763. Very heavy rain fell at 1600 hrs. Half an hour later 2 x 75 mm guns firing from behind SAMYE TAUNG put down 22 shells in the perimeter without causing any casualties. Reference to Appendice: None. |
