Entry All country North and West of Road junc 6949 was considered to be clear of enemy. Bn now given task of holding a line from the X Rds to Pt 210 at 711474. 'B' Coy moved to Rd Junc at 6948 at 0830 hrs. 'C' Coy moved to MAYMYO at 1100 hrs to take place of one Coy of 2nd Welch Regt which had arrived in our area, under command. Remainder of Bn, less 'C' Coy, moved to area South of Rd Junc 6948 at 1200 hrs. 'D' Coy, which was to move to River Bank (MYITNGE River) at Pt 210 encountered enemy at 706479. Enemy probably consisted of stragglers, but a sniper killed Lieut J.R. Harvey. Enemy was liquidated without further trouble and Coy took up posn at Pt 210 at 1630 hrs. Positions at Nightfall - Bn, less 'B', 'C' & 'D' Coys - South of Rd Junc at 702480. 'B' Coy. Road Junc - 6948. 'C' Coy. Maymyo. 'D' Coy. Pt 210 at 711474. Night - no enemy activity, but considerable harassing fire on enemy on opposite bank of river was put down by our artillary. Some screaming was heard by 'D' Coy from this direction. Casualties - Enemy - not known for this day. Casualties - Own troops - One officer (Lieut J.R. Harvey) killed. During the day a count was held of enemy dead bodies in area of fighting near enemy Rd block North of 'A' Coy on previous day. 34 dead bodies were found. Reference to Appendice: None.
