Entry | 'C' and 'D' Coys withdrew from their posn and Arty fire brought down on enemy in area 594640 (See attd Fire Plan Appx D.4.) After Arty concentration 'C' and 'D' Coys re-occupied their origional posns, and 1 Pl took up posn North of X Rds. Later in the afternoon this Pl was fired at by enemy L.M.G. and rifles, while it was digging in. Our Mortars retaliated and stopped the enemy fire. During afternoon enemy gun from Fort area shelled Bn H.Q. but shells fell well over the area. Orders received that Bn would rejoin 98 Bde following day in area WAYONBIN 6248 and TONBO 7253, about 15 miles South and South East of MANDALAY. Intention that 98 Bde would concentrate in area WAYONBIN 6248 - TONBO 7253 with object of linking with 6 Bde 2 Div in area SADO 5648 and blocking enemy's escape routes to South and South East. 62 and 64 Bdes would continue operations against Fort Dufferin. 3/6 Rajputana Rifles were to relieve the Bn on 19 March. Positions at nightfall unchanged. During night enemy attacked 'C' and 'D' Coys positions at 0300 hrs. They attacked from North and West. They tried to rush the M.M.G. posns just North of X Rds. All attacks were repulsed and no casualties were caused to us through the attacks. Casualties - Enemy, except for operations at night - Nil. Own troops - 1 O.R. wounded.
