Entry | Locations same as on previous day. 'A' and 'B' Coys spent day in patrolling whilst 1/6 G.R. relieved 1/15 Punjabs on our left. In the evening all areas were shelled by enemy without inflicting any casualties. During the night 'A' and 'B' Coys were strongly patrolled by enemy who threw some grenades into 'A' Coys posn. Next morning 1 enemy body was found, also 2 rifles. At least another 4 or 5 enemy casualties are certain. ON MANDALAY HILL in early morning 'C' and 'D' Coys broke onto the roof of the Pavilion and killed Japs remaining in tunnels with grenades. Advance was continued Southwards and all the area due South of the Hill as far as the N.E. corner of the Fort was cleared. The Corps and Div Comdrs visited the hill and were shown the enemy posns. Major TWIDLE was congratulated for the good work done by these two Coys in clearing so effectively one of the key points in the defence of Mandalay. Casualties - Enemy - Estimated at least 51 killed during 3 days ops on the hill. Own casualties - 1 O.R. wounded. Reference to Appendice: Appx E.4. 98 Bde O.O. No 13 of 11 Mar.
