Entry | Locations as on previous evening. No news as to whether 'A' Coy had reached Rd and Chaung crossing at 6300. Orders received in early morning for Bn to follow "Stilletto Force" to MAYABIN (5492) as soon as this place cleared. Stilletto Force would then patrol to MADAYA (6093) and if clear Bn to occupy. (Stilletto Force consists of 1/15 Punjab Tanks, and Arty, all motorized under Div Command). At 1145 hrs orders received cancelling previous instructions. At 1230 hrs Bn less 'A' Coy moved with object of establishing itself in WETKON (5794) and KOBIN (5693), both about 2 miles due East of MADAYA. Transport had to be left on track near YANGONGALE (5896). Remainder of route was over very rough country, several knee deep chaungs and some swamps had to be crossed and some of the going was through thick pampas grass. Bn, less 'A' and 'D' Coys which had been left with transport, went into posn for night at 1800 hrs about 600 yds N of KOBIN, with 'C' Coy less 2 Pls in KOBIN. During night orders received from Bde to patrol forward to Madaya, and if unnocpied to occupy astride main North - South road. Reference to Appendice: None. Casualties - NIL. |
