Entry Bn, less HQ Coy continued advance at 0730 with support of 2 tps medium tanks. Orders to establish bridge - head across chaung in squares 5611 and 5711 and exploit 300 yds, and report on suitability of crossing for tanks. Force consisting of 'C' and 'D' Coys commanded by Major E.C. Pemberton M.C. moved forward to carry out this task. Crossing effected and bridge - head seized by 1030 hrs. Work on constructing crossing site for tanks and M.T. commenced immediately. Tanks and M.T. started crossing at 1500 hrs. One enemy 75 mm gun found abandoned on North side of crossing. Bn continued exploiting 'B' Coy advanced 8 miles beyond crossing and secured KADOZEIK. During advance 'C' Coy surprised a wounded Jap officer and one Private in village 5607, cooking rice. Jap officer was shot and killed trying to get away, and the soldier blew himself up with a grenade. 'C' Coy captured the officers sword. 'D' Coy secured hill feature 568044. 'C' Coy remained North end of village 566076. Bn H.Q. and 'A' Coy went into posn for night West of hill feature 567052. Patrol sent to village SINYWA 5703 in evening saw about 14 Japs. They threw one grenade at a party of about 6. Results not known. Casualties - Enemy - 1 Offr and 1 O.R. killed. Own troops - NIL.
