Entry 0645. O Gp for 2nd attack on enemy in posns on 15r. Intention: 2 R Berks will attack and capture Hill feature 15r & exploit to PAGODA 690208. Method: D Coy on right, B Coy on left. A Coy in reserve. Exploitation as directed by opportunity and ground. Support: Air. R.A. One battery 25 pdrs. (No 240 Battery, 115 Fd Regt). Two medium guns (1 Tp No 522 Bty - 1st Med Regt) in Support of attack. Two 25 pdrs & 2 medium guns also to give direct fire as preliminary support before arrival of aircraft. M.M.G. One platoon in direct support on ridge. One platoon in reserve at call. Mtrs. Bn Mortars indicate target to R.A.F. then to support attack beyond ridge. 1130. Rifle Coys formed up in Bn assembly area North of 'B' Coy existing area. 1201 & 1211. Heavy bombing on target area by 4 sqdns Mitchells. 1211 & 1221. Heavy bombing by Thunderbolts. 1224 & 1300. Close support by Hurristraffers. 1302 & 1315. Close support to Coys advance by Spitfires as called for by V.C.P. REMARKS. Bombing & straffing 100% successful and on target area as indicated by V.C.P. and Mtr Smoke. 1243. Coys moved on to S.L. 1307. Coys start up ridge - opposition slight. 1320. Coys move along top of ridge. 1321. 'D' Coy attacked. 1324. 'B' Coy arr on 1st objective. 1330. 'D' Coy on objective. 1450. Both Coys consolidating. 1500. A Coy moved round to 'B' Coy flank. 1415. Bn H.Q. moved to new area in old 'B' Coy positions on ridge. 1615. Coys consolidated on positions. Night. Little activity. Some enemy M.M.G. firing on Assam posn at Pt 280. Casualties inflicted on enemy estimated at 45 killed. Own casualties. 3 O.Rs killed 12 O.Rs wounded. Reference to Appendice: Appx A.6. Sitrep up to 1715 hrs (Original only).
