Entry | Bn H.Q. plus 1 Pl of 'D' Coy remained in same area. 'B' Coy also located in same area as last night. 'A' Coy and 'D' Coy moved out at 0730. 'A' Coy to area masts 500 yards West of bank of R. IRRAWADY (S.R. 700214) 'D' Coy to area 695214. Air strike on enemy bunker posns at (1) Track 695209 (2) PAGODA 690208 (3) 15r 686207 from 1300 hrs to 1340 hrs. 'B' Coy attacked at 1600 hrs with Arty and Mortar support. Failed as bunkers had not been adequately neutralised. 'A' Coy advanced S.W. to ridge 698209 and came under enemy fire. Several men including Coy Comdr Major J.L. Francis were pinned to the ground and were not able to get out. At 1730 hrs 'A' Coy withdrew to area Masts and sent several patrols during night to try and get in missing personnel. Casualties - 1 O.R. killed 12 wounded 5 missing, Major J.L.
