Entry In the early morning patrols reported that enemy had vacated the point around 11 Sikh perimeter in KABWET. 'A' Coy immediately linked with 11 Sikh and Bn advanced on KABWET thereby effecting the complete relief of 11 Sikhs in KABWET. Bn moved through Westwards KABWET village 0930 to YONBIN (S.R. 6418) to complete second task ie. to eliminate enemy in YONBIN area. In KABWET village 68 enemy dead were counted, killed as a result of a mortar Concentration during previous night, and also gunfire and M.M.G. One enemy bunker posn was seen to be blown in by A.P. shells from our 6 pdrs and some enemy dead were left in the bunkers. Bn continued advance to YONBIN, B Coy leading as advance guard, then 'A' Coy and Bn HQ & HQ Coy. Route to YONBIN was found to be very thick, and considerable recce had to be made to find a route possible for M.T. YONBIN was found to be unoccupied by enemy and villagers had just returned. Bn returned to KABWET area at 1500 hrs. 'A' Coy was left in Western edge of KABWET for night. 11 Sikhs in their origional posn. 'D' Coy took up night disposition in area Pagoda (6720). Remainder of Bn less 'A' & 'D' Coys returned to last nights posn. 'C' Coy 8 F.F.R. left to rejoin its own Bn. Coy Assam Regt took up the F.F.R. last nights posn in front edge of Bn area for the night. 'D' Coy had rejoined the Bn by march route from MYOTHIT area at 1100 hrs. 1 Pl was immediately sent out to the patrol area KOKTET (S.R. 6821). Enemy encountered South of this village and casualties inflicted by enemy on this patrol - 2 O.Rs killed and 4 O.Rs wounded. Enemy grenade accidentally kicked by mule in 'A' Coy H.Q. and exploded, causing injuries to Capt J.S.B. Caldicott, NSM Fitzgerald, one signaller, one batman, two mule leaders. Two mules also injured, one of which had to be destroyed. Total casualties - wounded 1 Offr (Capt J.S.B. Caldicott) 11 O.Rs. Killed - 2 O.Rs. Reference to Appendice: None.
