Entry | Bn remained in D.A. 3/4 of mile N of X rds W of KINU (SR 3122).Mortared and shelled at intervals during day. Coys in D.A. - HQ, A and D Coys. C Coy situated 400 yds South on road MADAMGLLA - KINU. B Coy in West and N.W. of KINU. During day B Coy cleared N.W. of village after Arty S.P. (am) and secured objective on East of main part of village (pm). D Coy in a.m. escorted one 25 pdr and one 6 pdr round East of road. 30th guns fired on enemy positions across open sights, made several unsuccesful[sic] attemps to secure X rds during pm. C Coy remained in same D.A. as last night throughout day, mortared twice by enemy. A Coy moved to northern part of village pm and took up position for night to link with B Coy on their right. Immediately after dark No 9 Platoon 'B' Coy which had been pinned to the ground by enemy fire during the day was withdrawn. During the night all Coys sent out patrols to find out if enemy was still in occupation. Up to 0300 hrs 8 posts some enemy were still reported to be in their posts. After 0500 hrs enemy was reported to have cleared off. Own casualties 7 Jan Capt C Beshy and 2 other ranks wounded 12 other ranks killed. Reference to Appendice: Appx I.1.
