Location Thityabin, Burma
Entry Bn continued advance from THATYABIN (S.R. 1080) towards KANBALU (SR1070). 'C' Coy leading in M.T. First enemy opposition encountered north of LEIKTU (SR1088) approx 3 1/2 miles south of THITYABIN. Second jeep blown up by mine, first jeep fired on immediately afterwards. Casualties - driver of leading jeep and 2 O.Rs killed. 13 Pl carried out outflanking movement round right of enemy position, & 15 Pl went round to the left. Lieut Coleman, and Pte Flaherty 13 Pl were killed. Ptes Hackett, Wilson and Butler 15 Pl, were also killed. In addition 7 O.Rs were wounded. 'C' Coy then withdrew into a Bn perimeter at S.R.108804 for the night. Jap jitter parties raided Bn perimeter during night. A & HQ Coy meanwhile had advanced by march route southwards down railway line and encountered enemy opposition about 3 miles N of KANBALU. Casualties incurred - 2 O.Rs killed (L/C Hayle (HQ Coy) and Pte Burridge (S.B.) and 2 wounded (Sgt Tivey (HQ Coy) & Pte Birch (S.B.). Both these S.Bs showed outstanding gallentry.
