Entry LOCATION Janori (1 - 31). MOVES Nil. TRAINING GENERAL: Jungle Warfare and Co-operation with Tanks. 6-9. Mule Innoculation. 10-15. Tank Co-operation, & Battle Innoculation. 19-2 Sept. Bn at VADA for Jungle Training. Return by March Route. (Approx 420 men evacuated from Jungle Camp suffering with Foot-rot). CADRES: 8-10. Flame thrower cadre - 10 Students. DEMONSTRATION: 8. Flame thrower. EXERCISES: 21-23. Ex 'TWIST' (Bde Ex). PHASE I. Move of Bde Group providing own protection, and own resources. Rapid occupation of Defended Area. PHASE II. Unopposed river crossing by improvised means, including all Jeep trailers and their loads. Rapid occupation of Defended Area. PHASE III. River Crossing by Bde H.Q. M.T. assisted by Fd Coy, and Bde Group advancing in dense jungle formation on a set compass bearing. 25. Ex 'BUMP'. Practice of Bde Group drill on Advance to Contract. 26. Practice move of Bn column through jungle with unit A.T. 28-2 Sept. March back from Jungle Area. Practice occupation of Bde D.As and ferrying of baggage and stores. I am proud that this Bn has been trained for War in my Army, and I have no doubt that against the Japanese in the near future, it will establish as fine a record of fighting efficiency as it did in Afghanistan some 65 years previously.
