Ex 'MALABAR' 19 Div v 25 Div. Practice M.T. Div fighting in the jungle. OFFICERS Major J.C. Wilder assumed command of Bn 17 Dec 43 vice Lt Col Atkins. Lt Col S.H. Atkins re-assumed command 27 Dec 43. STRENGTH AS AT 26 DEC 43:- Lt Col 1 Major 3 Capt 10 Lieut 13 2/Lt 1 Q.M. 1 TOTAL 29 STRENGTH INCREASE: Lieut D. Sturges rejoined from hospital 9 Dec 43. Capt W.J.T. Savary posted from 1st Bn 21 Dec 43. APPOINTMENTS: Lieut D. Sturges re-assumed appt of M.T.O. 9 Dec. GENERAL REMARKS Special Bn Order by Major J.C. Wilder 23 Dec 43;- "The Commanding Officer, Lieut Col S.H. ATKINS, has instructed me to convey to all ranks of the 2nd Bn The Royal Berkshire Regiment his regrets that he will not be with the Bn at Xmas and his best wishes for a Happy Xmas and a Prosperous and Victorious New Year. He is convinced that, given the chance in 1944, the China Dragon will give the Japanese rats' tails a damned good twist.
