Location Indin, Burma
Entry Quiet Night. Message sent previous day to HQ HOPFORCE asking for Rations and ammunition to be available at INDIN. FIGHTING PATROL sent to get through to position and try to get supplies through. This had an Enemy [unclear] [unclear] [unclear] Lt. H.E.D. FROST KILLED. Remainder of PATROL reached INDIN safely but not allowed to return to 191 feature. 1100 hrs some 2 1/2 Coys of enemy dressed in shorts and wearing British Type equipment moved down towards INDIN they were engaged by Bren and RA Gunfire. Enemy moved up small fieldpiece and two LMGs opposite D Coy area 1130 hrs. Gun and M.G fire opened. This continued intermittently throughout day. C Coy engaged enemy with 2" mortar which quietened them down. This gunfire started small fires and we started burying all the dead foliage round D Coys right hand platoon: this caused D Coy to move 2 platoons onto C Coys hill, and C Coy had to readjust and take over the beck running towards its centre platoon. As soon as the fire was out D Coy sent 1 platoon back. That afternoon 1 pl A Coy took over 1 platoon position from C Coy so that it be given some rest. As the force had had no food since breakfast 1/4/43 the Commanding Officer ordered that the Emergency Ration should be opened, each man to eat a quarter.
