Location RANGOON, BURMA
Entry 0915hrs. Patrol was despatched in MT to escort police to KYONKADUN. W/T set has now been repaired and 7 pltn arrived TEBINZEK (MR 6120) Sheet 86m/5 1" to 1 mile refers, this morning. 0930hrs. 4 men attached to 29 RIASC for approximately a fortnight for driving duties. Message from 6 BDE stating 12th ARMY policy on the Japanese surrender is attached as appendix 9. Today has been a General Holiday throughout the Bn to celebrate the VICTORY. Those men on duty will be given a holiday tomorrow. The following was the programme for the day: 0730hrs. Reveille. 0730hrs. Holy Communion service at No 1 AREA church. 1000hrs. Bn C of E "THANKSGIVING" Church parade. The CO took the salute on the march past which followed. 1800hrs. Dinner which was after the sytle of a Christmas dinner. Officers and Sgts served the food. The CO made a short speech to all coys. A sing song followed. Each man had 3 bottles of English and 2 bottles of American beer, two of which were supplied free. The Brigadier and two former of the Bn attended, Major E J Spurrier and Major A N Bretton. SPECIAL ORDER OF THE DAY by LT COL R A DAVIES is attached, APPENDIX 10.
