Entry 1000hrs. CO, Adjt and OC D Coy went to see the ML patrol leave Rangoon Dock. 2 Press photographers who were to travel with the patrol to obtain photographs of the patrol in action did not go. They did not like the accommodation provided. Confrences for all officers, and all NCO's above the rank of Cpl. CO placed before each conference a scheme for the deferment of repatriation month by month, under a "gentlemans agreement". There is no guarantee of promotion, and should senior officers or NCO's be posted to the Bn there can be no guarantee of retention of Acting or Temporary rank by officers or NCO's who have agreed to defer repatriation. LIEUT PH de GRUCHY has applied for the "gentlemans agreement" deferment of repat.
