Location RANGOON, BURMA
Entry 1000hrs. Conference of Coy Cdr D Coy (MAJOR FHB BOSHELL), Patrol Cdr (LT P.H. de GRUCHY), I.O., OC C Coy (MAJOR DMM HALL MC) reference ML patrols. Information : The area south of a line RANGOON - BASSEIN - BAY OF BENGAL is clear of enemy except that local reports state that there are forces of Japs 1000 and 500 strong at KALAYAIK FOREST U 37 and KAKYAN FOREST U 15 respectively. Own tps. There are no units in the patrol area, but police stations have been started. 20 Div are patrolling the river SOUTH to [No details in diary] INTENTION : To patrol by ML the inland waterways in the area detailed and "show the flag" in villages in the area. METHOD : Lt P H de Gruchy (D Coy) with a total of 40 all ranks will leave Rangoon on morning 29 June 45 and patrol by using 2 ML's and 1 LCP(R) along the following water route, showing the flag at the villages detailed. ROUTE: KADUNTTNO 4535 - TWANTE CANAL - TWANTEWA 1722 YEGYAW 2014 - KYAIKTAN 1605 - DAMYAGYON 1199 - KYAIKKLAT 0197 (spend first night in village - PYAPON (spend second night in village) - KYAIKKLAT - DEDAYE 1992 (spend third night in village) - changing junc 4285 BASSEIN CREEK - RANGOON. Returning 2 July 1945. Patrol will include : 2 BIC (1 officer 1 OR) 2 Stretcher bearers 4 Bde R Sigs personnel 2 I Sec Cipher clerks Sitreps to be rendered at 8000 and 1700 hrs daily. Maplay and Slidex codes a nd DET cipher will be taken. Normal fighting scale of ammo plus 1000rds bandolier packed reserve. Rations for 8 days to be taken.
