Location RANGOON, BURMA
Entry Religious services took place as follows:- C of E Holy Communion 0730hrs Morning Service 1000hrs. R C Mass 1000hrs. (Rangoon Cathedral). O D Communion 1045hrs. 1030hrs. CO's conference at Bde reference Defence of Rangoon. It is felt necessary to coordinate the defences, as it is still possible that the Japs may make a diversionary and/or suicide attack either towards Rangoon, or cut the road RANGOON - PEGU. Since supply for 4 Corps is by this road the situation might be annoying. The general plan is as follows:- 2 DLI disposed on NORTH of RANGOON 1 RWF disposed on SOUTH EAST of RANGOON (SYRIAM area) 1 R Berks disposed NORTH EAST of RANGOON Detailed dispositions of 1 R BERKS:- A Coy to move to LEDAUNGGON (6958) and patrol villages in the immediate area of main rd. RANGOON - NLEGU - DABEIN 1 R Berks less A Coy to be disposed on line of PAZUNDAUNG CHAUNG at rd and rly bdges (5945). Not to move to these posns until called upon, but to remain in present area on a mobile basis. The Bn to be relieved of guards and duties in RANGOON for this purpose. 1200hrs. CO with IO made a recce of main bn posns at 5945.
