Regiment | 1st Royal Berkshire |

Location | MAUNGDAUNG, Burma |
Entry | It is now believed that only one gun is able to fire, and that has been reported by the air as having been hit. In addition, from the dead smell it is obvious that the garrison has been reduced by our offensives. Today, there is to be an oil bomb and strafing attack, plus 3 A/T guns firing AP and HE, on the gun area. A Coy will again attempt to take the position. The story was the same as before; accurate sniping by the Japs made movement impossible, unless the CO was prepared to accept casualties. The gun did NOT fire. This tends to confirm the belief that it has been damaged. The oil bomb strike was inaccurate, but the strafing was excellent. A Coy pulled back on the CO's order. Quiet night. |
