Entry | 0800 hrs. 2 x 75 mm shelling BHQ and C Coy area. Very accurate. 20 rds fired of which 8 bracketed the area noted. Casualties. 0900 hrs. Plans laid for Company (B Coy) attack on TAMABIN (1451). The Coy to advance from FUP at Pyawbwe (1352) along line of mulla S.E. to objective. Support: 1 sqn. 3 rd CARBINIERS, 16th FLD REGT RA, light section 6th FLD AMB. 1130 hrs. B Coy in position with two tps tanks. One tp with leading tps, second with Coy HQ. Second tp is back so that it can deal with any trouble which first tp and leading infantry pass over. 1130 - 1140 hrs. 16th Fd Regt RA fire on TAMABIN including : pagoda area 142516, SE and SW corners of village. 1140 hrs. B Coy advances from PYAWBWE towards objective. As they emerge into open country enemy shelling commences in amongst the troops. Shelling from 105 mm and 75 mm guns. As troops approach the village they met considerable sniper opposition. 1500 hrs. TAMABIN now in our hands. Enemy casualties 6 Japs. Own casualties. One enemy MMG captured, in good working order.
