Entry 1230 HRS. Patrol area instruction no 02075 received. 1300 hrs. Patrol of 1 officer (LT. HAZELL) and 12 sent out to PYABWE (1352). They return and report village clear, and natives say pagoda area 138534 is clear of Japs. 1600 hrs. CO ordered by Brigadier to send a Coy (C Coy) to pagoda area as soon as possible. 1630 hrs. C Coy send 1 platoon ahead of main body to pagoda area. They report it clear. 1730 hrs. C Coy in position at area 138534. Coy dispositions now as follows: B, and BHQ and HQ Coy 125536; A Coy: 2 pls 123529, I pl and HQ at 122531; D Coy 128531. 1730 hrs. Message ref 02080 from Divisional Commander received (congratulatory). Quiet night. Maps which refer to area of operations: 1" O.S. BURMA: 84N/12, 84N/16, 84O/13, 84o/9 attached. Months weather: Has become increasingly hotter by day, with a steady chilliness at night, reaching its coldest at about 0400 hrs. No rain, but slight breeze principaly NORTHERLY. Rations: Have become increasingly better. Cigarettes: Ration up to scale but cigs. on payment very short. Entertainment: Has been good. Better than previous months since operations began.
