Location RAIPUR, Burma
Entry 0630 hrs. Enemy 75mm shelling of C Coy area (245595). Very inaccurate. No damage or casualties. 0800 hrs. 2 DLI contact patrol met ours as usual. NTR. 1800 hrs. Enemy shelling again (105mm). Shells fell as follows: 250590 (5 rds), 240593 (3 rds), 243599 (3 rds), 245594 (9 rds). During the last mentioned, all shells (9 rds) fell in C Coy area. One direct hit on a brick building used a Company HQ. Casualties: 1 OR killed, 1 W.O., 3 OR's wounded slightly. A fire was started in the house but was quickly extinguished. Shelling finished 1850 hrs. 0200 hrs. Lights seen flickering and moving on SHWEPYSHIN ISLAND. Night otherwise quiet. During the last 3 days natives (Burmans), in number 7, have come into the Bn area, and immediately passed to 6th Brigade HQ for interrogation. Remarks: Killed 5337434. Pte. DUNKLEY A.
