Entry 0630 hrs. B Coy sent out a contact patrol to 2 DLI. NES. 0900 hrs. Enemy shelling North of Bn area. 15 rounds. No casualties. 1100 hrs. The A.D.N. (33 CORPS) visited the Bn, and inspected cookhouses and latrines. The construction of flyproof preparation rooms has now been finished. The dimensions are 12ft x 10ft x 61/2 ft; made of mosquito netting they enable food to be prepared under cover. Each cookhouse is so provided. 1400 hrs. The 2 DLI are sending a recce patrol of 1 officer and 5 OR's to investigate river currents, sandbanks and landing places on the EAST end of SHWEPYSHIN ISLAND. They are starting at 1900 hrs and expect to land in our area at 0200 - 0300 hrs. We are providing a huricane lamp to be placed at 234592 where the patrol will land. 1915 hrs. One enemy truck seen proceeding from the SOUTH to KYAUKTALON VILLAGE (EAST end). After 10 minutes it appeared that 3 or more others were congregated in this area, with side lights on. Our gunners are not allowed to fire at them - higher policy. There has been intermittent shelling during the day, all of which has fallen NORTH of the Bn area. In some cases as much as 3 miles away falling in open paddy.
