Entry | 0730 hrs. A,D and H.Q. Companies moved by march route to their respective areas in YWATHIGI, arriving at 0900 hrs. 0800 hrs. C and B Coys moved off. 1200 hrs. Take over from the ROYAL SCOTS completed without incident. 1430 hrs. C.O. and I.O. visited all Companies, alterations have had to be made in some cases, to co-ordinate platoon and Company defenses. Digging in is proceeding well. A considerable amount of damage has been done to buildings and ground by the air strike which preceeded the RScots attack on the 2nd February. 1630 hrs. Enemy guns fired 7 shells into A Company area. No casualties. Firing inaccurate. All cookhouses are now in Company Areas. Restrictions on transport moving into, and in, the area have been made, as the dust thrown up by them attracts shelling. The Coy areas are as follows: A: 225593 B: 240593 C: 235593 D: 226595 H.Q. and BHQ: 242597 QM: 298679 (Bde Admin Area). 1200 hrs. One Jap prisoner (1st class private) brought in by 5 villagers. They had surrounded and clubbed him. Prisoner passed on to Bde at once, after the M.O. (Capt D. CROOK RAMC) had bandaged his head wound. 1330 hrs. Jap killed in B Coy area. He was alone in a fox hole. 1430 hrs. After a report of 9 Japs in a bunker at 210593 D Coy sent a carrier patrol out, but found nothing. 2200 - 0100. Headlights, sounds of trucks and wiring across the IRRAWADDY in KYAUKTALON village. Night otherwise quiet. |
