Location RAIPUR, Burma
Entry At 0645 hrs CO called the Div and briefed in respect of a fighting patrol to proceed through ZAKAMA leaving there an arty OP protected by one sec, thence to the wooded knoll on the end of VISWEMA spur. The patrol, of one pl in strength under Lieut Burbridge, left at 0830 hrs. Village reported clear at 1100 hrs. Concentration of arty on knoll at 1115 hrs. No enemy seen. Wireless communication lost, but patrol sighted at 1300 hrs. 1720 hrs Two men returned from patrol report bumped enemy had to withdraw. They lost touch and returned via VIZWEMA. The main force returned via VISWEMA, evacuating their wounded via KHASHAMA. Casualties were one officer wounded, two O.Rs killed, six ORs wounded, two ORs missing. Enemy - at least 13 killed.
