Entry | The attack on the D.C.'s bungalow was timed for 0300 hrs but was somewhat late starting. Also, owing to lack of knowledge of the ground, one Coy of the Dorsetshire Regt lost their way and were finaly held up by bunker posns previously located by a platoon of "D" Coy. The situation remained static throughout the day while efforts were made to bring tanks up off the road on a level with the Jap posn. This has not yet been successful. "B" Coy successfully attacked the enemy in the posn referred to on page 9 (24 Apr 44). They suffered some casualties. "D" Coy relieved "B" Coy in the area of the D.C.'s bungalow. Water and supplies were again dropped by air, but the R.S.M. reported that only twelve gallons of water were collected by the Bn. A certain amount of difficulty has been experienced bringing supplies up the hill, owing to enemy mortar and L.M.G. fire. Remarks: Lt. I Henson and Lt. Gibbs wounded and evacuated. |
