Entry In the early hours of the morning the Japanese (approx 5) succeeded in blowing in with grenades the two forward weapon pits in D Sector now taken over by C Coy. the position was successfully denied to the enemy for a considerable time but the JAP succeeded in capturing the final Bay in a long trench system and a grenade battle ensued. The situation eased during the afternoon and after dark an attempt to restore the origional situation will be made. The communications were disorganised for a considerable time by the fact that the exchange was hit the installation being broken - Cpl Wright killed and Sgt Hagard injured - the signal position was normal by 1700 hrs. Supplies were again dropped the amount falling in the area being about 60%. Remarks: Major Sawyer killed Lt G.V. Hewlett (Intelligence Officer) wounded and evacuated.
