Entry 0600 hrs. Sit-reps show quiet night. 'A' Coy sent out the battle patrol Commanded by Sgt Llewellyn and it brushed the enemy. The Commanding Officer went to A and B Coys. D Coy relieved the Company of the DORSETSHIRE Regt which was in position with A Coy. The Bn HQ, HQ Coy area was attacked by night by a small Japanese patrol. The attack was not successful. Shortly after MEREMA RE 4973 also reported in flames. - - . 36. - 1005 - A - 0945 - A1 - NAGA arrived A Coy and reports large force Japs seen in jungle between CHESWAMA and NEHEMA.- [Informd HQ 4 Bde]. 37. - - - - - 1400 - A1 - D Coy move to KHABYUMA RE3879 to relive D Coy of DORSETS. - - . 38. - - - - - - - - 1615 - - CO returned from KHABYUMA. - - . 39. - 1720 - 0P - 1710 - A1 - Village of MEREMA set on fire as a result of straffing by RAF Hurricanes.- [Informed HQ 4Bde]. 40 - 1815 - - 1815 - - D Coy DORSETS moved into perimeter area at 32 MS and toook over D Coy posns. - - . 41 - 1915 - B - 1900 - A1 - Report 2 Japs with L.M.G in clearing 2000yds NORTH of their posn - - . 42 - 1920 - - 1905 - - RA firing on Japs with LMG NORTH of B Coy. - - . 43 - 1925 - CO - 0945 - B1 - NAGA at A Coy also reported that he was forced to accompany part of 100 Japs who refused him food across the ZUBZA river where they were shelled and NAGA managed to escape. - - . 44 - 2205 - - 2205 - A1 - A patrol of approx 15/20 Japs attacked posns on the EAST flank of Bde Admin Area at 32 MS. They were driven off under LMG and rifle fire and withdrew into the jungle. 45 - 2335 - - 2335 - - A further attack by enemy patrol on the Bde Area was carried out, this was repulsed with SA and mortar fire. The remainder of the night was quiet on all Coy fronts. - - .
