Entry 0730 9 Enemy bombers in formations of 3 V's passed flying high in N.W. direction. Bombs heard shortly after and black smoke of petrol fire from direction of MAUNGDAW. Patrols Lt DE. GRUCHY returned 1900 HRS from Patrol to 55 Bde Area. Had started 0645 HRS 29 APL and crossed hills via KANBYIN 4036. KING YAUNG 4635 - SINOH 459362. KIN CHAUNG and thence to 55 Bde in Area 5035. Saw signs of tracks running N.W - S.E also found tracks marked by Japs on scraps of paper. Arrived 55 Bde 1000 HRS 30/4 and sent message back. Returned after resting by M.T from BUTHIDAUNG Composition of Patrol 1 Officer and 6 men arms 3 TSMG, 1 Pistol 3 Rifles 6.36 Grenades. General Japs still infiltrating Northwards on 55 Bde. A party of about 4 were seen at SINOH 452363 apparently moving N. 3 G Bde moved from previous concentration Area N-3 Staging Camp to area 4845 during night 29/30. 4 Bde front nothing to report. Bn gives further mobile role envisaging move into hills. Mules reported late P.M partly loaded during night.
